Barça, Juve, Arsenal, Man City chase Fernando Llorente

Athletic Bilbao’s 27 year old striker Fernando Llorente has become the center of many transfer speculations with rumors stating clubs like Chelsea, Liverpool, Arsenal, Barcelona, Juventus, Manchester City and Tottenham after the man.

Llorente has a £28m escape clause in his contract and Man City are said to be the forerunner in the bidding for the Spanish striker with £30m (figures of £28.7m are also circulating). However, with the amount of strikers already present at City, they should rather sell them not buy them.

Barça are also said to be going for the striker as the Catalans have played the last season without a striker. Samuel Eto’o and Zlatan Ibrahimovic were allowed to leave the club with surprising ease in previous transfer windows without securing a replacement for them. David Villa, Lionel Messi, Alexis Sanchez, Pedro, etc have all tried to pitch in to the role of the striker but like so many times it was evident last season, Barça needs a striker.

Arsenal’s Robin van Persie is yet to sign a contract renewal deal with the club and as time passes by the rumors of his departure from the club will only increase. Hence, rumors of his replacement have also started emerging: the Gunners are approaching Llorente as a replacement of van Persie, if the Dutchman is to leave this summer.

Finally, the Italian giant, Juventus also prepare for a bid for the Spaniard. It is said that Llorente has rejected a new deal with Bilbao and the Old Lady is set to make a £15.7m bid for the striker. There is still one year remaining on his contract with the San Mames club but with rumors circulating about the £28-30m bids, Juve’s bid seems like a long shot.
