Charlotte Dujardin wins gold in individual horse dressage with Laura Bechtolsheimer taking bronze

CHARLOTTE DUJARDIN got gold-medal winning Team GB back in the saddle with an emotional individual dressage victory.

And the whole of Great Britain will really be feeling the love for equestrian tonight after Laura Bechtolsheimer took bronze — to the tune of the Lion King.

Both 27-year-olds were in tears at the end, with Bechtolsheimer paying tribute to her 17-year-old horse, Mistral Hojris - nicknamed Alf.

After a stunning ride that was awarded 84 per cent, Bechtolsheimer was in first place with just three riders remaining.

But after Adelinde Cornelissen of Holland moved ahead of her and GB's third rider, Carl Hester, dropped back to finally finish fifth on Uthopia, it all came down to Dujardin in the final test.

Land of Hope and Glory blared out across Greenwich Park as she scored a winning 90 per cent on Valegro - making it a case of pupil beating master, as Dujardin is coached by Hester.

The three Brits had already teamed up to earn team gold on Tuesday.

German horse Damon Hill just missed out on the medals in fourth.
