The Killers are a Runaways success at V Festival

THE KILLERS delivered a crowd-pleasing set on the main stage last night to draw the Essex leg of V to a close.

The Americans opened to classic Somebody Told Me, following it with another huge hit, Smile Like You Mean It.

Not bad tracks to have in your back catalogue.

After Spaceman, the band, fronted by a quiet Brandon Flowers tried out new single Runaways.

Drummer Ronnie Vannucci had earlier admitted they were worried about how new songs from forthcoming album Battle Born would go down.

He told Bizarre: “We still get nervous as hell, man. It’s always a little scary trying out new stuff.”

Luckily for Ronnie the new songs went down well, although they didn’t get the crowd going like older tracks Human, Read My Mind and Mr Brightside.

Earlier Snow Patrol paid tribute to Ed Sheeran on the main stage, dedicating their song This Isn’t Everything You Are to him.
