X-FILES actress Gillian Anderson has split from her long-time partner Mark Griffiths months after revealing she had enjoyed lesbian relationships in the past.
Red-head Gillian, who played agent Dana Scully in the paranormal telly series, was with Griffiths for six years.
The couple, who never married, had two children together — five-year-old Oscar and three-year-old Felix.
Last night, her spokesman revealed: "Gillian Anderson and her partner Mark Griffiths have amicably separated after six years together.”
The 44-year-old actress, who played Miss Havisham in a BBC version of Great Expectations, has been married twice before.
She divorced film art director Clyde Kotz in 1997. The couple have a 17-year-old daughter called Piper.
She was married to documentary maker Julian Ozanne for two years before splitting in 2006.
Gillian revealed in March that she had enjoyed lesbian relationships with a number of women in the past.
The star — who was voted the sexiest woman in the world in 1996 — admitted she started experimenting with girls after moving to the US from London as a teenager.
She told popular gay and lesbian magazine Out: "I was in a relationship with a girl for a long time when I was in high school."
