THE writing is on the wall for this artist – he has been banned from painting murals on his OWN house because of complaints from a neighbour.
Angus Macaskill first painted the Queen and the Duke of Edinburgh on the gates to his home to celebrate the Diamond Jubilee in June.
He has since painted about 20 murals on the gates, including Andy Murray at Wimbledon, Bradley Wiggins winning the Tour de France and Jessica Ennis’s Olympic triumph.
But after one spoilsport neighbour complained, the local council slapped Angus with an order banning him from using his home as an art display – because it is a Grade II-listed building.
Supporters have until September 12 to admire his latest artworks in Olveston, South Glos., which poke fun at the premature end to his open-air gallery.
Angus, 62, said: “I’ve put a scene from the new version of Tintin by Steven Spielberg.
“It is Tintin and Snowy with a large letter and on the letter it says enforcement notice.”
Angus paints on two eight-foot square wooden boards screwed onto the gate. He plans to ask the council for permission to put them up again next summer.
He added: “An awful lot of people have walked by and said it was inspirational.
“Hundreds of people have been getting entertainment and an uplift watching the gate.
"I’m regarding it as a tremendous bit of fun.”
Local fan Jean Best said: “We have a killjoy in the village.
“It is a great shame that we, the villagers, are losing what seems to be a very popular village attraction that is enjoyed by many.”
