AUSTRALIA’S gold-starved Olympians look set to have another humiliating defeat against Great Britain – as their sports minister loses a bet with ours.
Aussie Kate Lundy will don a Team GB shirt and be made to row at Eton Dorney after losing a wager with British minister for sport and the Olympics, Hugh Robertson, over whose country would triumph with more Olympic medals.
If Mr Robertson lost he would have had to wear an Australia top and play hockey inside Australia House, the Australian High Commission in London.
But with Britain currently THIRD in the medal table with a whopping 48 medals – of which 22 are glinting golds — the Aussies are very much Down Under.
Their team have secured just four gold medals out of 25, leaving them in a lowly 11th place in the medal table – and now Kate Lundy has the forfeit.
Team GB’s thrashing of Team Oz comes just days after Australian newspapers mocked The Sun’s light-hearted Wanted front page last week, as we voiced the nation’s yearning for Britain’s first gold of the Games.

The Aussies — who had only one gold themselves — said our Olympics was a disaster and laughed at us for languishing in 21st place in the medal table behind Borat’s country Kazakhstan.
But now Kate Lundy has had to eat the words of her nation, saying: “If Australia got more gold medals then Hugh was going to put on a hockey t-shirt and dribble the ball around Australia House.
“But if Britain got more gold medals I’m wearing the GB shirt and rowing a length at Eton Dorney.“I have cheerfully conceded that I think I will be rowing this time around.”
She described her nation’s performance at London 2012 as a “shock”.
“I think a lot of Australians are looking at the result and saying ‘Where are we?’...But can I say all credit to the British athletes who are having a fantastic Olympic Games.”Asked if it was the best ever Games, Mr Robertson said comparison should not be made, but added: “I think London will reset the dial for Games to come.”
