British couple scoop £148M in second biggest Euromillions win ever

A COUPLE from Suffolk won last Friday's £148MILLION Euromillions jackpot, it was revealed today.

The winners, from Haverhill, banked an amazing £148,656,000 - the UK’s second biggest-ever lottery prize

The lucky couple, set to be richer than Sir Tom Jones and Ringo Starr, have decided to go public with their win tomorrow.

A spokesman for lottery firm Camelot said yesterday: "The ticket will be paid as soon as the banks open.

"It will have to be validated first, but we are pretty confident we have the correct one."

The couple - who came forward to claim the cash on Saturday morning, the day after the draw - are the seventh Brit winner of the EuroMillions jackpot in 2012.

The win is the second biggest after the £161million scooped by Colin and Chris Weir of Largs, Scotland, last year.

It catapults them straight into Britain's top 1,000 richest people.

The winning numbers were 11, 17, 21, 48, 50 with lucky stars 9 and 10.
